CV Boot Clips, Clamps & Installation Tools

Secure CV joint boots and driveshaft gaiters with adjustable stainless steel CV boot clips, clamp sets and installation tools. Choose small 25–50mm clips, large 40–110mm clips, mixed workshop packs and dedicated ear-clamp pincers.

Measure the fitted boot diameter and identify the fastening design before ordering. An adjustable or “universal” CV boot clip is only suitable when its size range, profile and closure method match the application.

CV Boot Clips and Driveshaft Gaiter Clamps

CV boot clips secure the flexible rubber or thermoplastic gaiter around a vehicle’s constant-velocity joint and driveshaft. A correctly installed clip helps keep grease inside the boot while reducing the entry of dirt, water and road contamination.

This category includes individual CV boot clips, mixed-size stainless steel sets, Jubilee® CV boot clip kits and dedicated clamping pincers. Products are available for occasional repairs, complete inner-and-outer boot installations and workshop stock.

Choose the Correct CV Boot Clip Size

    Small CV Boot Clips: 25–50mm

Small adjustable clips are commonly used around the narrower driveshaft end of a CV boot. They can be formed and adjusted to fit applications with a finished outside diameter between approximately 25mm and 50mm.

    Large CV Boot Clips: 40–110mm

Large clips cover fitted diameters from approximately 40mm to 110mm and are commonly used around the wider CV joint housing end. Always measure the actual boot after it has been seated in its retaining groove.

Individual sizes are available from the 25–50mm and 40–110mm CV boot clip range. Jubilee® branded options are also available as individual small and large stainless steel CV boot clips.

CV Boot Clip Sets and Workshop Kits

    Four-Piece CV Boot Clip Set

The four-piece stainless steel CV boot clip set provides a compact selection for repairs requiring both small and large adjustable clamps. Confirm the pack contents and required quantities before installation.

    Ten-Piece CV Boot Clip Set

The ten-piece stainless steel CV joint boot clip set is suited to garages, maintenance kits and users completing multiple driveshaft or gaiter repairs.

    Jubilee® CVK015SS 15-Piece Kit

The Jubilee® CVK015SS kit contains 15 clips: five 25–50mm clips and ten 40–110mm clips. The Jubilee® clips are manufactured from 304 stainless steel with a 7mm band width and 0.8mm band thickness.

Why Use Stainless Steel CV Boot Clips?

CV boot clamps are exposed to moisture, dirt, road spray and changing temperatures beneath the vehicle. Stainless steel offers useful resistance to corrosion in these conditions.

Material grade alone does not establish vehicle compatibility. The clip must also have the correct diameter range, band profile, fastening design and clearance around neighbouring suspension, brake and drivetrain components.

How to Measure for a CV Boot Clip

    1. Seat the CV boot correctly in its groove on the shaft or joint housing.
    2. Measure around the outside of the fitted boot at the clamping position.
    3. Convert the circumference to diameter if necessary by dividing it by 3.142.
    4. Select a clip whose adjustment range contains the measured diameter.
    5. Check that the housing has enough clearance for the clip ear and installation tool.

Do not select the clip from the vehicle description alone. Replacement boots can differ from original equipment parts, even when sold for the same vehicle.

    Installing Hook-and-Ear CV Boot Clips

Jubilee® CV boot clips are supplied as flat straps and must be shaped before assembly. Form the clip around the boot, interlock the hooks on the outside of the band and select the engagement position that provides the correct fit. The raised ear is then compressed with a compatible side-closing pincer.

Before crimping, make sure the boot is fully seated, the clip is positioned squarely in its groove and the boot is not twisted. Close the ear progressively and inspect the finished installation for secure, even contact.

Use dedicated CV boot and ear-clamp pincers or select a compatible tool from our hose clamp tools and pincers.

What Does “Universal CV Boot Clip” Mean?

The word “universal” refers to the clip’s adjustable diameter and its ability to fit a range of suitable boots. It does not mean that the clip is guaranteed to fit every car, driveshaft, CV joint or replacement gaiter.

Vehicle compatibility must be confirmed from the fitted diameter, available clearance and required fastening system. Where an original-equipment specification is available, follow it.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Which CV boot clip size do I need?

Measure the outside diameter of the fitted boot at each clamping groove. Select the 25–50mm or 40–110mm clip only when the measured diameter falls within that range.

Are the small and large clips interchangeable?

No. Their ranges overlap between 40mm and 50mm, but the most suitable clip depends on the fitted diameter, available engagement positions and required band length.

Can CV boot clips be reused?

Crimped ear-style CV boot clips undergo permanent deformation during installation. A new clip should normally be fitted after removal rather than reusing the old clamp.

Can ordinary pliers close a CV boot clip?

Dedicated ear-clamp or side-closing pincers are recommended. General-purpose pliers may close the ear unevenly, damage the clamp or produce insufficient clamping force.

Can a worm-drive hose clamp be used on a CV boot?

Only when specifically permitted for that boot and vehicle. A conventional worm-drive housing may be too bulky or create uneven pressure on the gaiter. Use the fastening design specified by the boot or vehicle manufacturer.

Do the clip sets include installation pliers?

Not automatically. Clip quantities and tool inclusion vary between products, so check the individual listing before ordering.
