V-Band Clamp Kits for Exhaust and Turbo Systems
V-band clamp kits provide a compact way to connect two sections of compatible exhaust or turbo pipework. Each kit consists of two mating weld-on flanges and a shaped outer clamp that draws the flanges together as its fastening is tightened.
Compared with a conventional multi-bolt flange, a V-band connection uses a single clamp fastener. This can make exhaust sections, turbo components and downpipes easier to remove when maintenance or modification is required.
The current On1shelf range consists of complete Boltza® V-band kits rather than loose replacement clamps. Each product includes the clamp and two corresponding flanges required to create one connection.

How to Select the Correct V-Band Size
V-band kits are not sized in the same way as adjustable hose clips. The stated size relates to the intended pipe and flange connection, while the external dimensions of the completed flange assembly will be larger.
- Identify the outside diameter of the pipe being joined.
- Select the corresponding nominal V-band kit size.
- Check the flange bore and full product dimensions before welding.
- Confirm that both pipe sections use compatible materials and wall thicknesses.
- Test-fit and align both flanges before completing the welds.
Do not select a replacement clamp using only the pipe diameter. V-band flange angles, profiles and external dimensions can differ between manufacturers, even when the nominal pipe size appears identical. For an existing connection, verify the complete flange and clamp dimensions.
Installation and Alignment
Both flanges should be aligned concentrically before the clamp is installed. Poor alignment, welding distortion or damaged flange faces can prevent the joint from seating correctly.
Tighten the clamp gradually while checking that it sits evenly around the entire flange circumference. Do not use the clamp to force badly misaligned pipe sections together, as this can place excessive stress on the clamp, flanges and welded joints.
Final sealing performance depends on the flange profile, surface condition, alignment, welding quality and whether the particular installation requires a gasket. The presence of a V-band clamp alone does not guarantee a gas-tight joint.
V-Band Clamps Versus Conventional Exhaust Flanges
A conventional exhaust flange normally uses several bolts positioned around a flat joint. A V-band assembly surrounds the complete joint and uses one clamp fastener to draw the shaped flanges together.
This produces a compact connection and can simplify access where space around the exhaust or turbo system is restricted. It is especially useful on removable downpipes, turbo components and custom exhaust sections that may require periodic access.

Will a V-band joint seal without a gasket?
That depends on the flange design and application. Some correctly matched V-band profiles are designed to seal through their mating faces, while other installations may require a gasket. Inspect the product and system requirements before assembly.
Can a V-band clamp correct misaligned pipework?
No. The pipework and flanges should already be correctly aligned. Using the clamp to pull badly misaligned sections together can damage the assembly or create an unreliable joint.
